As part of its United Nations Academic Program, American Global Consulting is pleased to announce its annual United Nations Boot Camp Program that takes place every summer for between 10 and 20 elite students from universities situated around the Arabian Gulf. This program is designed to create the next generation of global leaders by connecting students with the United Nations and by building bridges between the international body and Gulf universities.
It is a week-long immersion study program that gives advanced undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to explore, examine and experience the inner workings of the world’s premier global governance body – the United Nations – as well as other international NGO’s and organizations.
By the end of the one-week Boot Camp program, participating students gain first-hand knowledge of how multilateral diplomacy is crafted and implemented, not from their textbooks, but from the practitioners and senior UN officials themselves. Participants also spend time in Washington DC visiting with American legislators and diplomats, policymakers and other leading experts in world affairs. Key topics to be covered include peace and security, refugees and migration, food security, counter terrorism, gender equality, climate change, wildlife conservation, peace-building and peacekeeping.
The seven-day program begins in New York City and finishes in Washington, D.C. making American Global Consulting (AGC) the only organization in the world that structures its program in this capacity. Participants are briefed from over 25 different experts from the United Nations, the US State Department, think tanks and other international organizations.
UN Lectures: For each University that belongs to its network, AGC arranges two major lectures per academic year by a senior UN official for each member school on a topic of their choosing. Sample topics include but are not limited to conflict resolution, peacekeeping and peace building, climate change, women’s empowerment, sustainable development, and other international issues.
UN Orientation Sessions: AGC organizes special three-day programs at United Nations Headquarters in New York City for students of Universities in the Gulf. This program begins with a one-day orientation session, followed by a customized, intensive two-day fact-finding mission to gain first-hand knowledge of how multilateral diplomacy is crafted and implemented. Universities are limited to sending 20 students and 4 faculty members
UN Conferences: AGC will work with faculty members to organize one- and two-day conferences on campus on a special United Nations theme with relevant experts coming from different parts of the globe to address the university and its students.
