Joe earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Moravian College, and his Master’s Degree in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania. Joining Muhlenberg College as an instructor in 1999, he currently is the Associate Dean of The Wescoe School. He teaches courses such as Management, The Business Firm, Leadership, Small Business Management and Business Policy and Strategy. In addition to his teaching and administrative duties, Joe manages a 90+ year old family business that began as a specialty retail market, but under his leadership has grown to include catering and branched into commercial real estate development.
Joe’s dual passions for teaching and for building small businesses have made him more successful in both arenas. While in the classroom, he is able to relate real-world applications to the business concepts he teaches; conversely, in his business ventures, Joe draws upon his academic rigor and training to create strategic plans, develop employees, and use marketing and forecasting to provide a competitive advantage to his businesses.
Teaching is Joe’s passion, whether in the classroom or boardroom. Joe’s role as Associate Dean focuses on meeting with local companies in order to introduce our current programs and explore the development of on-site learning opportunities for their employees. Working with major corporations as well as non-profit organizations over the years has helped build The Wescoe School’s reputation as a premier adult education provider. Joe has also been active in the community as a member of several councils and boards.
